PURE HANDCRAFT

As it says its own motto, "Totana is craftswoman and potter", and that is that you are in one of the most active peninsular centers in this area, with a rich Muslim heritage. You should not leave without attending a demonstration in the workshops of the Barrio de las Ollerías, where the pottery trades were once located.

Aromas of AZAHAR

Entering the Huertos de Totana without direction or guidance and losing yourself among the typical stately homes, the almond, orange and lemon trees, is a real delight for the senses. The charm of this walk reaches unsuspected levels in spring, when the good weather and the orange blossom fragrance are more intense.

TOTANA ORIGIN

In Totana, cakes of ground pepper, mantellina and santiaguitos are typical. The first ones are ideal for breakfast and lunch, the mantellina is the traditional liquor that is drunk in the pilgrimage of Santa, with honey, lemon and anise, and the santiaguito is a pastry delicacy made with marcona almonds. Bon Appétit!

Juan de Uzeta Fountain

It is an 18th-century baroque work, unique in the region. Throughout Totana history it has been divided into two neighborhoods: that of Seville and that of Triana; Water did not reach the neighborhood of Seville and to alleviate the problem, the Council agreed "to drive the water from the Carrasca fountain to the town square" (1750). This baroque fountain was built for this, according to the design of the Granada-based sculptor based in Lorca and which gives it its name. The trace of the local artist, Silvestre Martínez, was followed for this.
